Chase is willing to help homeowners stay in their homes and ha been implementing programs to this end since the beginning of the current mortgage crisis.  These are some of the current options that Chase is offering their borrowers:<br />
This can be initiated at anytime during the foreclosure process, up to five (5) days before a foreclosure is finalized.  A hold is put on the foreclosure as the case is examined for ways to prevent foreclosure.  Of course the sooner communication begins, the better the chances are that Chase will be able to help.<br />
This program uses prequalifications and streamlined documentation to convert adjustable-rate mortgages to low rate fixed mortgages.  This can only be used on Chase-owned mortgages and is designed to help lower the monthly payments for those borrowers.<br />
Borrowers that do not qualify for refinancing may qualify for loan modifications instead.  The terms of the original loan are modified to make a monthly payment that the borrower is able to make.<br />
If Chase holds the mortgage to your home and you are at risk of missing a payment or are facing foreclosure, here are some key facts to keep in mind:<br />

i have a mortgage with chase and have tryed talking to them for 6 months the people i do talk to say my loan was inadvertantly  paid off.. the people i need to talk to will not return my phone calls. my payment are either no being cashed or being cashed and no applyed to my loan can you tell me what on earth is goin on<br />
Good article, However My mortgage is with Chase and they did except a partial payment from me. Chase Bank is doing all the things you mentioned in your article. Your spot on. Chase appears to be serious about avoiding foreclosure as long as the borrowers are cooperative and are communicating with them.<br />
What a crock, Chase process requires your monthly house payment to exceed 31% of your &#8220;gross&#8221; monthly income or you do not qualify. They then do NOT have to work with you. I went through all the right Chase channels and my supporting documentation &#8220;hardship letter&#8221; was not even taken into consideration. The focus is only on the 31% event though their modification program is stating they are willing to help. They are about to own one more foreclosure&#8230;..<br />
Chase has received $25 billion from the taxpayers under Tarp. Jamie Dimon has one goal. Try to foreclose as many properties as possible. Chase will never help homeowners. I have been in loan mod for nearly one year to find out if I want to keep my house the payment will increase 3 times of the trial payment amount.<br />
Chase is full of bs. We were told for 5 months that if we filled out the documents needed and made modification payments on time that our foreclosure proceedings would be delayed until a decision was made. We followed all the requirements to the T and we called constantly to followup we even told them that we had all the back payment money except for a partial payment that we could have in two weeks and then we wouldn&#8217;t need the modification but they foreclosed on us anyway. They did this because we had about $60000 in equitity and they seen a way to make money and we lost our home. DO NOT TRUST CHASE THEY ARE LIARS<br />
Chase Bank Loves giving you the run a round! I tried asking for helf BEFORE my payments became delinquent, they said if I have not missed a payment they can&#8217;t help me. Then I missed some payments after some invester scamed me in a &#8220;subject to&#8221; scam (Take over payments.) Now I am in Preforeclosure, Chase denies they recieved my request for short sale or Deed in lou of foreclosure. They won&#8217;t help me, and refuse to accept any payments unless in full. I&#8217;ll never have another loan with Chase Bank, and I hope I can fix this before they foreclose, I am working on it now, but getting nowhere.<br />
Chase mortgage holders comments over many websites have been negative for working with the mortgage holder. Chase gets nothing from me and I will live rent free as long as I can. Health issues and Job loss first time in my life has forced this issue. If mortgage holders had a majority of positive results, I would have been inclined to work with them. It&#8217;s a business decision for them, whats the most profitable for them. They raised my Credit card Interest from 1.9%  to 27.99% with no miseed payments and Credit score of 780. To quote them it was to remain profitable. My response to them was I need to remain profitable also. No more payments! After reading these comments I&#8217;m wondering if I should even bother filling out any loan modification applications and start missing payments to live rent free then do a DIL or SS. I&#8217;m current on my payments but my property value has dropped from 700K to 410K and have a 6.25% 30 year fixed rate. In short I&#8217;m severely underwater and am looking for a principal reduction and / or rate reduction. Do I have a chance?<br />
Well I have been dealing whith chase on this loan modification process and all I have recieved is a bunch of run around. 31% is thier magic number and if you dont fall in that bracket they kick you to the curb. when I purchased my home it was $130,000 9 years later at 1300 a month I have paid over 144,000 to chase. So I paid my home off and I gave them an additional 14,000.Now im expected to pay 21 years more of interest. The lending institutions of america are Just legalized loan sharks. SEE YA CHASE<br />
I have been working with Chase for 17 months on a mod. I was told last week that I am under the 31% income to loan so I cannot be modified. I was under the 31% 17 months ago also! Did it take that long to figure that out? Looks like I will now tell Chase MY terms or they can come and get the house!<br />
Tried to modify, nope.  Tried to sell for full mortgage, no buyers.  Tried to sell as short sale, sold the property THREE TIMES and was rejected by Chase&#8217;s &#8220;people&#8221; or informed that I would need to take out MORE LOANS to make up the difference.  Now, the property is sitting, empty.  They will not receive another penny&#8230;they were the worst agency I&#8217;ve ever worked with and will walk away from a home in the future if they are the mortgage holder.  Glad to hear I&#8217;m not the only one.<br />
Chase is a bunch of crooks&#8230;.after almost 12 months of run a rounds by chase on my mod application, the lady on the phone just told me I was declined 1st because &#8220;they do not see any hardship(even though my wife lost her job) that would prevent me from making my payments&#8221;in other words, I make too much just by myself and should have no problem paying &#8230;.then as I question her more about the app, she then says that even Fannie May reviewed my application and that I was declined &#8220;because my debt to income ratio is too high and that even if they made my payment lower I would not be able to make my payment&#8221;&#8230;.wow, two completely contradictory statements on the same phone call&#8230;1st I make too much, then I don&#8217;t make enough. I seriously wonder if my application was even actually reviewed by anyone. Like other people have said, Chase makes my decisions easy by their actions, I want to draw out the process just to spite them now and live rent free for a while. Chase is just a dirrrty company.<br />
My husband lost his job for the second time this year. The first time he lost his job we took out money from his 401k and used that to stay current on the mortgage because Chase would not work with us. Then this second time my husband lost his job we appied for the loan modification. It took a long time to get an answer and when we finally did get the loan modification it was only lowered by $100 dollars!! What is that about? If I was only $100 dollars away from being able to afford that payment I could have gone out and gave plasma to make up the difference!! I am sure that they are giving out these very small loan modifications to show the government they are trying!!! Ugghhh Shame on them!!<br />
We are scheduled for a face to face appt. with Chase, after nearly 2 years of their lagging on a loan mod. Chase&#8217;s collections dept. informs us we need to come up with some serious cash just to get the loan &#8220;reinstated&#8221; Unbelieveable!!!<br />

Chase is not willing to help anyone.  A few days after my husband lost his job, I told him to call them.  They laughed in his face.  Told him to get out and sell the place.  We made payment went with a not for proffit organization and Chase told them to eat it.  We went back to Chase and they too said you are not behind, we cant help you.  We did all the loan mod paper work&#8230;they laughed at use again.  We filed bankruptcy and before that was over begin to foreclose.. Chase sucks!! Run, Run, as fast as you can. Chase bank has been giving us the run around on a modification loan for 3 years, first made to much then not enough!!! So they put the amount we owed on the end of are loan, but not the late fees so we were still over $1000 behind, Fillled out mod paper work 6 times!! Just needed payments lowered due to loss of income, now I just do not care come take it tired of the struggle!!<br />
I thought that they would make good on the loan modification that we filled out paper work for 3 times and three times for about a yr, we&#8217;ve sent in every single payment. Foreclosure papers came and they said they were sent out erroneously&#8230;disregard them. Then we were served&#8230;they said that was automatic, that the foreclosure process still continues while on modification. So many different stories from their agents. I&#8217;ve kept in contact with them every single week and my husband told me not to bother, because they were dragging the process out and deceiving us so that they can come and take the house. I didn&#8217;t want to believe. Today I was given the run around again and was told that they were going to &#8220;escalate&#8221; it again so that we would get a relationship manager. Meanwhile the house has a sale date on it for March 23, 2011. I now believe my husband. Chase and the people that work for them are shady and corrupt.<br />
I tried everything, everything chase required for every modification they offered. I was so convinced that they would help us, with all the hours spend of the phone, thousands of faxes and daily conversation, how could they not help us even the slightest bit.  I have been working of a recovery process with chase for two years 5 months behind now.  Cant mentally do it anymore, completely devistated.  What a waste of time and energy.<br />
I was just unfairly denied by Chase for a streamline refinance after being charged a non-refundable $395 application fee. They insist that I do not live at the property even after I provided many utility bills proving that I do. They also state that since the property is a 3 family that it does not qualify. Why wasn&#8217;t disclosed to me? 1-4 family is considered a residential loan. They already hold the loan so they would have no additional risk. I have never been late with any of my payments for any loan EVER. It appears to me that they are looking for a way to deny people. I even had another mortgage loan officer who is a friend of mine tell me this is what is happening. I will never do business with Chase again and I suggest you stay away from them as well.<br />
I give up! Take the house&#8230;the whole loan modification, phone calls, faxes, letters, all for nothing.There truly is no help&#8230;.don&#8217;t kid yourselves&#8230;they were bailed out and are making money on foreclosing. They have me as the primary lender, when the loan was through my wife due to some teacher loan scam deal through Washington Mutual&#8230;the government never set this up to work for both sides. The 1978 house $470k is $300+k underwater and you can buy brand new for $160k. They themselves walked away from 4 buldings underwater in San Francisco. I am done.<br />

We were 6 months behind since my hubby finally got a job, but we were doing partial payments each month to find out it goes to escrow or late payments? So we still owed the 6 months! We&#8217;ve been paying in full since december, 1 payment in January, 2 payments in February, and this month I called in to make 2 payments to try to get everything up to 5 months.<br />
The first lady we talked to we told her we wanted to make a payment, she told us to hold on, she needs some info from us, like how much income, how much is spent on gas, utility, etc&#8230; Then she told us we might qualify for a loan modification, she wanted us to send papers, etc&#8230;<br />
We did the loan mod papers before, but they told us they didn&#8217;t get our bank statements when we did send it in. They said they wanted ALL the papers even though it only said page 1 of 1! And after hearing the horror stories I didn&#8217;t really wanted to go through with the process anymore. So we decided to try to make double payments per month instead.<br />
Only for her to say afterwards &#8220;We can&#8217;t accept your payment.&#8221; She also told us our loan is in good standing and not in foreclosure status?! Then why can&#8217;t we make our payments? I didn&#8217;t get it.<br />
The only time I heard from them when you can&#8217;t make your payments anymore is when its in foreclosure&#8230;<br />
So I told the hubby to call again and he talked to someone different. This time a guy. We told him we wanted to make 2 payments. He says okay, puts us on hold twice. Then comes back and says he couldn&#8217;t do it &#8220;the MANAGER told him he couldn&#8217;t do it&#8221;. Told us to do the loan modification papers. He also told us he went and asked the manager twice- I could tell he was trying to do it for us and he felt really bad.<br />
The manager won&#8217;t accept the 2 months payment, only DOUBLED that or the FULL payments missed. If I could do that, I wouldn&#8217;t call them now would I!<br />
Why in hell they accepted my payments before only to tell us now they don&#8217;t accept it anymore when they told me my loan is not in the foreclosure status anymore?<br />
They are only trying to screw me over by making me miss more payments and get it in foreclosure status again! Is there anyone I can talk to to stop their scams?<br />
I just found out that Chase charged off my Heloc loan. I was having a short time hardship and even though I stayed in touch with Chase, by documenting calls/names/ and dates with them in Jauary2011 and February2011 and at no time did either one of the representaives tell me about the term Charge Off and that my account could go into this staus. This is completely new to my and my wife. I fell behind on my first in twenty five years of payments as well with BOA but have been making full payments along with extra so I can catch up my five missed payments.<br />
Ok..go to Chase Bank to pay my missed payments in full thinking all will be fine. I pay the teller with my chase checking account and after taking it she tells me that I need to call the Chase regarding my account.OK get home make a call and for the first time I was transferred to this Chase Recovery Department.<br />
Oh Boy! I was totally taken by surprise! I was told for the first time in my life I was threaten by what I now know to be a Collector for Chase Recovery Department. I have did so much reading and asking questions about this.<br />
But here is the deal, will they attempt to freeze my bank accounts/forclose on me or what? I made and Offer at 19% he made an offer of 50% which prbably would have been the anount of it if I was to pick up the phone today and ask to pay the loan off. So what should I do. I read so many other things and I would like to have my act together to protect my family and our income. Again I made it clear to him I was willing to pay but he said its all right now or suffer the consequences. He mentioned that I would find out what escalate my account is if I did not come up with the 50%.<br />
But during our first conversation it was the whole balance, now its 50% which is probably the principle. How far will he go with this? Again, I explained to him that I was attempting to make my account up to date and a payment was accepted to a charge off account. He said you had your chance to make payments and you failed to pay. I understand that they don&#8217;t care but legally what will happen to my Chase Accounts if I can ot come up with the 50%. Should I let BOA know whats going on? What should I do here in NY. I know that there may be peolpe here who work for Chase so I will not take to much to heart! My take is I should hold out to the end of month, continue to make a paper trail of my willingness to either settle or give me a re-payment plan&#8230;<br />
Chase is not helping anyone.  They gave me the run around, have me fill out all this paper work over and over again, then when i met with them they told me that my payments would be even higher and that my income was not enough.  Why is it that my payments will be higher when the payment was what got me in the situation in the first place??!!  I say good riddance!!!  Why should I pay more for the property than they are gonna get anyway!!!!<br />
We went throught the loan modification with Chase and after a year got approved, then I find out we have to pay an extra $500 a month for 5 years and they added an extra $7,000+ to our principal for &#8220;fees&#8221;.  I have been out of work, my husband&#8217;s son went to live with his mom and we got popped for $600 a month child support. I finally finished school with a teaching certification and no jobs (live in Texas they cut school funding).  I have been trying for over a year to find out what the extra $500 a month is for, no one can or will tell me, I asked for a list of what the fees were for, no one will tell me.  What a crock, Chase is a fraud and the government should do something about it.  Been looking for an attorney to help us but no one will.  What are we suppose to do, been waiting for 2 days for HUD help to call me back, so far nothing.  My life savings is in this house and I want to save it but looks like we will probably be homeless in a few months.  The guy who wrote this ought to look into things better, Chase is not a company who cares about anything, expecially it&#8217;s customers.  People who have accounts with them (checking/savings) should close their accounts and see what happens then!<br />

What a joke. I have been trying to deal with Chase for 2 1`/2 years. They are no help at all. I have faxed everything they wanted two different time and they still say they are missing papers or come up with more papers for me to fax. Sent in the loan modification papers over a year and a half ago and they werent willing to help because I already was to late on payments. I hired an attorney and they even gave him the rn around. My house has been on the market for 3 years now. I have had a short sale offer for thirty thousand less han what was owd and they refused the offer and countered with another offer of almost 15 thousand more tha what i owe on the loan plus they want the missed interest on the loan. This actually happened today. Now they want to foreclose which means selling the house dirt cheap and since its a VA loan possibly getting money from the VA as well. Im frustarted, my real estate agent is frustrated and the people wanting to buy the house are frustrated enough to pull their offer off the house. All chase wants is more and more money. They dont care about anybody out their, they didnt even take into consideration they hardship letter that they requested and all the supporting documents that was sent along with it. What ever you do dont deal with these people. I think every body that works there must have there hand in the cookie jar looking for more money from someone else. I cannot believe they want more money that what is owed on the loan itself and more than the original loan amount.<br />
I originally bought my house in 2004 with my ex husband, went through a divorce where he got the house. I was remarried and was starting a new family in a new home with my new husband and along came my ex with past due bills on the home. My ex called me and said he ran into some trouble with the law and was going to go through bankruptcy and he had never refinanced the home.<br />
My current husband and me paid on both mortgages of 7 months, sold our newly remodeled home, and moved into the wreck my ex had left our old home in.<br />
Not only did the financial burden become a nightmare, we had additional debt from the remodel that had to be done on the home to make it liveable&#8230;like a working bathroom.<br />
All of this almost caused a divorce but we refinanced to try and get out of the debt and then economy hit and my husband had not work&#8230;he&#8217;s in autobody.<br />
When payments were too high for my income and his sporatic paychecks we decided to shortsale.<br />
We immediately got a favorable offer. The offer only being about $28000 less than owed and $11000 over BPO. Our offer was sent to Chase negotiators and it got lost from there.<br />
Every time we checked in for the status of the offer in the negotiation process I would find out that it had been transferred to a new negotiator.<br />
Seven negotiators, several managers, and at least 15 months later there was no movement for the offer to go to the underwriter. Needless to say we lost our offer just to start the process over.<br />
After dealing with this house crisis for 2 1/2 years we decided on Bankrupcy, Chapter 7. This process stopped the foreclosure process.<br />
However, the Bankcruptcy has been discharged since Feburary 28, 2011 and there is still no progress on the foreclosure.<br />
I am finding out now that even if you have waited your 2 years from discharge date on bankcruptcy, if the house isn&#8217;t foreclosed you will have to wait an additional 2 years from the date the house is foreclosed on in order to buy another house.<br />
It&#8217;s been over 4 years with this ordeal and no progress!!!<br />
Every time I try to contact Chase I get transferred from one department to another, get hung up on by their automated system at least twice, and finally reach a customer service person that can&#8217;t help me anyway!<br />
Here it is December 2011 and there is still no progress.<br />
I contacted the bank the other day after talking with my lawyer who had told me to try a deed in lieu of foreclosure. When I tried to discuss that with Chase they told me that I would have to put my house through the shortsale process again!<br />
I am through with Chase, I am on the verge of moving back into my house, pay for my utilities, and sit on it. Free home. They can&#8217;t sell it without my signature and they refuse to work with me so what harm can that do? Can you really get into trouble with the law for breaking into a home that has your name on the title?<br />

We decided in July 2011 to allow Chase to go through the steps to foreclose on our home. We had filed bankrupcy on a company we owned&#8230;that debt transferred to us personally and at the same time our income dropped in half. So we will be filing for personal bankrupcy. We receive several calls a day which go unanswered as well as letters in the mail, UPS and even messengers have brought us phone numbers to call. We have been instructed by our bankrupcy attorney to ignore them as long as we can. I just need to know what is going to happen next&#8230;<br />
What steps will they take after we received notices of default and acceleeration warnings?  We live in a resort area in CA where there are a lot of second homes in foreclosure. It will take years to sell the property (of which we are upside down by about $125,000.<br />
I am putting off filing our personal bankrupcy until this is all done.  Will we be able to  include what we owe them in this bankrupcy?<br />
What happens to the leins that were placed on the house from other debtors? The house will not be able to be sold without those being paid and we are not in a position to pay them. Some are tax bills which will not be able to be included in the bankrupcy.<br />

We spent over 2 years trying to modify our home loan due to financial hardship, multpile cases of cancer and hospitalizations in the family and loss of income due to those illnesses. After 2 years of sending in and faxing paperwork,hardship letters proof of residency, statements that we don&#8217;t pay homeowner dues etc.,finally got payment lowered by 100/month.  Since then they have continually &#8220;suspended&#8221; our on time payments which no one can justify or explain. Also money goes missing from those payments, no explanation, then we get the letters phonecalls telling us we are behind 1 or 2 payments and in danger of foreclosure!! Hundreds of calls to Chase don&#8217;t help none of them even speak English clearly, they just rip everyone off and do whatever they like with no consequences!! I advise everyone to get and stay as far away from Chase as humanly possible. They are liars and swindlers and hopefully will be caught and stopped from ruining any more lives!!!</p>
